“Other matters?” Cass asked curiously standing up as well, though he stumbled a bit, he’d always been a klutz. He blushed deeply as he straightened up again.

The elder had reached out to steady the other but when he didn’t need it, he smile, “Yes,” He motioned for Cass to follow him out into the living room where he lit more candles. He preferred them to electric lights

Haniel’s face softened and he reached out, gently stroking the other’s cheek, “As do I,” he assured the other, “But I assure I am alright. Please do not frown.”

Cassiel smiled and leaned into the touch. “If you are sure… than I won’t frown.” He still believe Haneil to be perfect but he knew the elder would protest.

The elder frowned a bit as he studied the other, “…I explain and yet you still worry. Why is this, Cassiel?”

“Because I care about you…” He blushed and looked up again. “I c-care about you greatly…”

Haniel’s face softened and he reached out, gently stroking the other’s cheek, “As do I,” he assured the other, “But I assure I am alright. Please do not frown.”

“It is a ritual I preform everyday,” He informed the other,” After a while, pain simply becomes a mind set, something one can endure,” he lifted the knife, cleaning the blade with a small cloth, “This ritual is also a punishment for my taint. It helps me keep my control around others.”

Cassiel nodded keeping his head low still. He didn’t want to argue, he knew nothing about Haneil’s past but he felt as if he had no reason to be punish. The elder was perfect in the assistants eyes, taint and all.

He then exhaled and glanced over at Cassiel, “I can sense your worry,” He stated, “I assure you, i’m alright.”

“I just…” He broke his gaze and looked down. “It looked painful… I wish I could help in some way…”

After he was finished, Haneil muttered a few more verses, then was still. He took a deep breath and the black paint seemed to absorb into his cuts, sealing them and making them disappear completely.

Cassiel chewed on his bottom lip. He didn’t want to speak until spoken to, it was out of respect but he was also still worried.

He then exhaled and glanced over at Cassiel, “I can sense your worry,” He stated, “I assure you, i’m alright.”

The elder continued to chant, beginning to do so louder. Once he was covered in the symbols, he put down the black paint then picked up a small dagger. Taking a deep breath, he ten began to go over the lines with the dagger, making not incredibly deep cuts, but deep enough to bleed. It was a ritual he did everyday in an attempt to cleanse himself of his taint

Cassiel winced. He wanted to stop Haneil but he knew that would be a bad idea, Haneil was doing something to help him, but still the young assistant was worried.

“As could I,” The elder answered with a faint smile, “Though, we both are very busy and must keep our love hidden for the time being. Therefore we must be patient.” After a moment, he began muttering a chant, reaching out for the black paint before him. He began drawing spirals and other symbols on his arms and chest, continuing to chant

“I know Sir. I’ve been v-very careful.” He smiled, and remained silent after that, letting Haneil do what was needed, he watch curiously as it went on.

Cass smiled, though his cheeks still burned. “I… I missed you actually… The king has kept me pretty busy and I finally got time off… I just couldn’t w-wait to see you again.”

“It’s quite alright,” he assured the other with a soft smile. Once he was done he turned, watching how the candle light danced off Cass’s face, “It is always a pleasure to see you.”

That only made him blush more, as he moved closer and knelt in front of the elder in the same way the other was. “A-As I am a-always pleased to see you t-to Sir Haneil…”

“Hm, are you?” he asked, smirking faintly as he closed his eyes, closing his eyes as he knelt before the alter, “It pleases me to hear that.”
